Photos and Descriptions
Arborvitae – Emerald Green
Emerald Green Arborvitae have stiff branches; a moderate fragrance that isn’t quite as strong as the spruces, cedar, or juniper; and greenery composed of scale-like leaves with no gloss. Our Emerald Greens live up to their name, displaying a strikingly bright green color. We are unlikely to be able to cut arborvitae greenery longer than 12”.

Boxwood – Green Velvet
Green Velvet Boxwoods have stiff, short branches. Most of their greenery will be 4”-6” in length. The leaves are about the size of a fingertip, semi-glossy, and during the cold months all boxwoods have a slight yellowish tinge to their normal flat green – ours included. They bear no noticeable fragrance.

Cedar – Eastern Red
Eastern Red Cedar grow wild on our farm. As with any cedar, they are very fragrant – emitting that well known cedar scent. They have green-gold greenery composed of tiny stacked scale-like leaves and a red-brown bark, from which they get their name, on rather supple branches. We can cut this greenery to most lengths, but prefer to stay below 18” to avoid charging our customers for mostly stem-weight.

Juniper – Ketlerri
Ketlerri Juniper sports something like a light green color, with perhaps just a hint of blue. The greenery is moderately fragrant, and composed of tiny stacked scale-like leaves on flexible branches. Note that some people do find the Juniper fragrance objectionable, but only rarely. We can cut this greenery to most lengths, but prefer to stay below 18” to avoid charging our customers for mostly stem-weight.

Juniper – Perfecta
Perfecta Juniper greenery is much like Ketlerri: light green with hints of blue, moderately fragrant, and composed of tiny stacked scale-like leaves. However, the greenery grows in a much bushier, more three-dimensional fashion off of the limbs, which are flexible. Our perfectas are currently sporting light gold berries as well. Note that some people do find the Juniper fragrance objectionable, but only rarely. We can cut this greenery to most lengths, but prefer to stay below 18” to avoid charging our customers for mostly stem-weight.

Juniper – Wichita
Wichita Juniper, like all junipers, has a moderate fragrance. In Wichitas, however, the fragrance has less of an edge. Their greenery is a silvery blue near the ends, getting greener near the bases of the stems, and is composed of tiny stacked scale-like leaves. Branches are flexible. Note that some people do find the Juniper fragrance objectionable, but only rarely. We can cut this greenery to most lengths, but prefer to stay below 18” to avoid charging our customers for mostly stem-weight.

Spruce – Colorado Blue
Colorado Blue Spruce have stunningly sharp needles. We definitely recommend wearing gloves when working with this product. However, the greenery is a lovely shade of blue-green, something like aquamarine. The needles, besides being sharp, are medium long (1” – 1½”), thin, and lack any noticeable gloss, arranged on rather stiff branches. The fragrance is moderate, though not as strong as Norway Spruce, and has been described as “resinous.” We can cut this greenery to most lengths, but prefer to stay below 18” to avoid charging our customers for mostly stem-weight.

Spruce – Hoopsi Blue
Hoopsi Blue Spruce are a much bluer version of their Colorado counterparts, with shorter needles. These needles are generally ¾” to 1¼” in length, very sharp, not glossy, and a striking silver-blue, getting greener nearer the base of the stems. The branches are stiff and the greenery has a moderate fragrance. We can cut this greenery to most lengths, but prefer to stay below 18” to avoid charging our customers for mostly stem-weight.

Spruce – Norway/White
Norway and White Spruce are so similar that most people cannot tell them apart even when they are side by side. In fact, we believe most of our White Spruce were supposed to be Norways, but some Whites were mixed in because the employees of our supplier simply could not discern the difference. Thus, we sell both as a single variety. The two have short, somewhat sharp, semi-lustrous needles ½” to 1” in length on stiff branches and are generally a bright or dark green. We can cut this greenery to most lengths, but prefer to stay below 18” to avoid charging our customers for mostly stem-weight.

Pine – Ground/Mugo
Ground Pine (also called Mugo Pine), are very similar to Scotch Pine, with medium length (2”-3½”) needles that are a flat green, not glossy, and somewhat prickly. They have very stiff branches, and ours currently sport small round pinecones. The fragrance is moderate. We can cut this greenery to most lengths, but prefer to stay below 18” to avoid charging our customers for mostly stem-weight.

Pine – Scotch
Scotch Pine (sometimes spelled Scots Pine), have flat green needles, 1”-3” in length, that are prickly and have a moderate fragrance. They make excellent sources of greenery because the stiff branches hold their needles very well even when dry. We can cut this greenery to most lengths, but prefer to stay below 18” to avoid charging our customers for mostly stem-weight.

Pine – White
White Pine (more specifically Eastern White Pine) have very fluffy, soft, and inviting greenery. The needles are anywhere from blue-green to gold-green, semi-lustrous, and long and thin, from 2”-5”, with length varying considerably from tree to tree (see photos below). The greenery has almost no fragrance, and the branches are extremely supple. We can cut this greenery to most lengths, but prefer to stay below 18” to avoid charging our customers for mostly stem-weight.
