Description
Originally created by Tara, the artsiest of the Loyd children, swags are small greenery decorations to accent windowsills, light posts, or mailboxes. Before the years of college and careers, the Loyd children used to, somewhat reluctantly, make almost all of the swags themselves. Now the job has passed on to the hands of our other employees. Like all of our greenery products, we make swags on the farm with greenery from our own trees.
Window swags lay flat on a windowsill or hang on doors, light swags hang vertically on light posts, and mailbox swags drape over one’s mailbox like a saddle. Because of the way swags are constructed, a bow is generally necessary to round out the aesthetics. Unless customers have their own bows to add, they should purchase swags with bows.
At our Christmas Center, we try our best to keep a pile of swags on hand. However, customers planning to purchase many (say 15 or more) or special greenery should place their orders in advance (in person, over the phone, or by email).
Dimensions
The dimensions of our standard swags depend on their intended purpose. Note that some customers use our mailbox-size swag to adorn their mantelpiece or the sill of a large window. Upon request, we can adjust the dimensions of our window and light swags by about 50% and nearly double the size of our mailbox swags.
- Window swags are about 24” to 30” wide.
- Light swags are about 18” long.
- Mailbox swags are about 4 feet long.
Greenery Options
Most of our swags are made from a mixture of White Pine and Scotch Pine, sometimes with a few sprigs of Fraser Fir or other special greenery to add further variety. We can make swags out of any one or combination of the greenery varieties below.

Life
When used out of doors, most greenery products will last about 4-6 weeks before losing their color.

Note that we generally have only a few dozen window swags and only a few light and mailbox swags pre-made. As a result, we require time to make large orders of a dozen or more window swags or several light or mailbox swags. Although we strive to fill orders on the same day whenever possible, during busy periods we may require several days. Call for details.
Fire Caution
Kept inside, greenery products will be almost completely dry in about a week and very flammable. Therefore, it is very important that you exercise caution in the placement of these products. Avoid hanging greenery items above stoves, fireplaces, or other sources of intense heat in your home.
