Trees

A traditional Christmas begins with a real tree.

Norway Spruce and White Pine Field

A field of Norway Spruce and White Pine in 2010.

For the 2010 holiday season, Hutton-Loyd will be offering several new species of trees to our customers! Find descriptions, available sizes, photos, and prices of each variety by following the links below. The only tree species not grown on the farm itself is Fraser Fir, which simply refuses to grow in Kentucky.

Ways to buy a Christmas tree

  • Choose-and-cut: Hunt for a satisfactory tree from those growing in the fields and cut it yourself. (A Hutton-Loyd employee will be happy to assist with the cutting and moving upon request.)
  • Pre-cut: Select from among the trees on display at our Christmas Center that have already been cut, and which have the benefit of being nearer the fire.
  • Dug: Pick your tree in the fields and mark it so that we can dig it for you at our earliest opportunity.
  • Pre-dug: Choose between trees we have already dug and placed on display at our Christmas Center.
  • Mini-dug: Pick a tree and mark it, as with regular dug, except that we will dig the tree with a significantly smaller and much more manageable root ball. This option is for customers who desire the needle-retention benefits of having a tree with a root ball, but do not intend to replant it after Christmas is over.
